My husband stayed in this hotel. On the day he was to check out, he discovered several of his items had been stolen. The cleaner admitted seeing the items on his bed, after he left for work. When he came to collect the items in the evening they were gone. The hotel admits to entering the room after he left and seeing the goods, so either a) the cleaner stole them or (b) the cleaner did not lock the room.
The hotel is therefore liable as they had a duty of care to ensure their cleaners are trustworthy and that the room is locked afterwards. But, of course, what do they do? Shrug their shoulders and say 'too bad, we're not liable'. What is with this lack of taking due responsibilities nowadays?
My advice - avoid this place like the plague.
