25.06.2009 Got a great deal on skoosh for the hotel compared to the hotel's website. Room was nice, we opted for a king bed room which unfortunately came with an accessible shower which had a broken shower head. Other than that the room and hotel was clean and friendly, helpful staff. The restaurant/bar (Bar one) was nice, comparable to a moxies but not quite as nice. Denny's is what you would expect, but only place within twenty minutes to go for breakfast so its worth staying. Close enough to everything with fast-food right across the street.

25.06.2009 I would recommend for travelers on a budget. The room was too hot and the front desk was not particularly helpful. It was a decent value for the money, especially considering the price of hotels in Calgary. Overall, my expectations were met.

25.06.2009 Highly recommend staying at this hotel. Staff were very professional and helpful. Especially liked the fact that one had to have a card to use the elevator, an extra security feature as I was visiting alone. It was very good value for money as I got a great deal by booking through Skoosh, I was also upgraded to a suite without any extra charges.

25.06.2009 Yes, I would recommend Sandman to others. Only probelm was the Denny's restaurant attached to the hotel. Poor service and poor food - how can they ruin oatmeal? I guess the Denny's quality control people forgot Calgary!

25.06.2009 The hotel is modern, and the room was clean and nice size. We had a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and free internet service. In addition, the hotel is located in an area close to a number of good restaurants.

The only thing that would have made it a better experience would have been if breakfast was included. The attached Denny's was crowded, and the food wasn't good.

We were pleased with the hotel and felt it was good value.

25.06.2009 Nice hotel. The rooms were newly done. Right across from the Olympic Park, that was a great site to see. I felt Calgary was an expensive town for hotels but the Sandman was in the mix for the pricing we found for the city.
I would recommend the hotel.

25.06.2009 Stayed in this hotel for 2 periods of time. The first time we had a great room with 2 double beds and a seating area, the next time, it was a king size bed but the room was smaller as it was near the fire exit - not so good.
Meals could be eaten in Dennys(a fast food joint) which is attached to the hotel.
It is quite a distance from Downtown Calgary which is a walk down the hill and bus or bus and C train away and this can sometimes take a while. Be aware that the bus to the hotel from the station stops at 9.40pm.
Would be much better if the hotel laid on a shuttle bus.
Good value for money

25.06.2009 I would highly recommend the Sandman Hotel Calgary West . It has an ideal location on Hwy 1 / TransCanada Hwy, which if you are headed to Banff is an excellent jumping off point. Also, it was close to many of the subdivisions where friends and family you are visiting may live.

I was impressed with the stylish and modern decor, especially the choice of artwork (beautiful botanical photography and cityscapes) for the common areas and rooms.

The staff was friendly and attentive, especially when our bags were misplaced by the airline. They kept us up to date on the status of our luggage and made sure our items were delivered to our room as soon as they arrived. The complimentary tea and coffee bar in the mornings was also a welcome addition.

My expectations were fully met and I felt it was a great value!

I found it to be good value for the money. I enjoyed my stay very much.
