Casa d\'Alvor is very friendly, great for the kids, both spanish, portuguese, english and Irish families use this place. Some apartments are private owned, which we had hired an apartment there. You still have the used of the facilities, there is a pool bar with friendly service, prices reasonable for food and drinks. Our kids loved the pool!
Few minuites walk into the town centre, where you can find some good resturants, we tried a few, you need to watch what you are getting charge for. We found some of the resturant charge over and above for the bread baskets and olive, which you think you are getting free. Be aware this is not the case, if they bring it to you, tell them you don't want it, unless you are willing to pay for them. Some charge 5 - 15 Euros. Found the resturant Georget's down near the taxi stand very child friendly and reasonable, will be back there next year!! The girls from Belfast!!!
