Ternopil is a very nice place to visit. I had the opportunity to do so twice so far: First time during the preparation of our wedding, and recently. Coming from a different culture ( materially advanced ) I found no problems accommodating with the less advanced. Most of the roads, the mini busses...and the tramways are very old, but it is a charm seeing, that they still working.
I know the town now like my pocket and must add to the positive sides:
- The open market place, its atmosphere which sadly has disappeared from the city of my residence.
- The people seem reserved, but they quicky start chatting, should you be able to converse in Ukrainian or Russian. Of course, some speak English, so do they in shops, banks... and restaurants.
I am impressed by the size of the parks, the green vegetation and the architecture of their churches.
Prepare for the journey, as it takes eight hours by train from Kiev. The summer time is wonderful and hot. The winter very severe..
